SSC Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level CHSL Examination, 2024-25 Typing

Typing Rules:

The SSC CHSL Skill Test/ Typing Test will be of qualifying in nature.
For the position of Data Entry Operator (DEO)/ DEO Grade A, the typing content will be in English and available in printed format. It may also be shown on the computer screen.
For the position of Lower Division Clerk (LDC) / Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), typing can be done in either English or Hindi as chosen by the candidate during the SSC application form submission.
The required typing speed for various posts of SSC CHSL 2024 will be as follows:Tying Language:- The typing skill test will be conducted in both English and Hindi. For the Hindi typing test, only the Inscript Keyboard Layout using the Mangal font will be permitted.
Typing Speed:- The minimum typing speed required to qualify is 30 words per minute in English and 25 words per minute in Hindi.
Typing Marks:- The candidate should secure at least 10 marks out of 25 marks in the Type Test on Computer for both English and Hindi Typing respectively. The candidate securing less than 10 marks in any of the typing test either English or Hindi shall not be considered eligible for final selection.
Passage Length:- Candidates will receive a passage of approximately 250 words for the Hindi typing test and a passage of about 300 words for the English typing test. Both passages must be typed within 10 minutes.

Eligibility:

The SSC CHSL typing will be on computer for all the posts of DEO/DEO Grade A and for LDC/JSA.

For DEO/DEO Grade A the typing passage will be provided in printed format and may also be given on typing screen.

The typing passage shall be displayed on the upper half of the screen, and the designated typing area shall be located directly below it.

The typing passage for the posts of DEO/DEO Grade A as mentione in the para 8.1 will consists of about 3700-4000 key depressions And for rest of DEO/DEO Grade A the typing passage will be of about 2000-2200 key depressions.

The typing passage shall be displayed on the upper half of the screen, and the designated typing area shall be located directly below it.

There will be no word highlight, no error highlighting, no auto scrolling with fully enabled backspace facility available.

Exam Pattern:

According to Previous year's CHSL error evaluation rules, maximum error limit is 7% for the UR category & 10% errors are relaxed for other categories.

In the SSC CGL typing earlier the maximum error limit was 5% for the UR while in the latest advertisement it was 20% error limit for UR.
